WWE NXT Results For 2/22/22 Tommaso Ciampa vs. Dolph Ziggler and 2022 Women’s Dusty Classic Begins

- The show begins with a recap from last week's NXT Vengeance Day.

Mercedes Mone Names Her Dream Intergender Wrestling Opponent

- WWE NXT Commentator Vic Joseph welcomes the viewer to the CWC in Orlando, Florida.

- Bron Breakker's music hits, and he makes his way to the ring. The crowd, in unison, is "barking" in honor of The Steiner's. Bron Breakker says he will defend his title in Dallas, Texas, on April 2nd, at NXT's Stand and Deliver. Breakker says "that he will leave Stand and Deliver as the champion."

Dolph Ziggler's music hits, and he comes out. Ziggler tells Bron "that whenever I decide to get the NXT title, I will come for it." Ziggler takes a shot at Breakker's attire, and Breakker replies, "they don't pay me to dress up; they pay me to kick ass, pal."

LA Knight vs. Grayson Waller ( w/ Sanga)

The bell rings, and Grayson Waller immediately exits the ring. LA Knight hits Waller with a clothesline, and just a short time later, Waller returns the favor. LA Knight tosses Waller onto the top rope, and Waller's legs are between the ropes. LA Knight begins bouncing the ropes as Waller screams in agony. We go to the first commercial picture-in-picture break with Knight in control.

We return from the break with Waller in control and stretching out LA Knight's neck. During the break, Sanga distracts Knight and Waller sends Knight into the steel steps outside the ring. Waller hits Knight with a quick suplex. With a smug look on his face, Waller begins to stop and glances at the crowd, and continues to beat down LA Knight. The crowd is going back and forth with LA Knight and Grayson Waller chants.

LA Knight exits the ring; he will attempt his rolling stunner; however, Knight catches him and hits him with a suplex. After that, LA Knight takes control of the match. Knight will try and hit Waller with another slam, but Sanga grabs ahold of Waller's arm, which stops Knight. Waller then takes down Knight and rolls him up for the pin by grabbing and holding the tights.

Winner: Grayson Waller ( w/ Sanga)

- Dakota Kai approaches a sleeping Wendy Choo and says, "we're a team in the Dusty Cup?" Kai and Choo talk it over; Choo says to Dakota, "I told your friend (Kai's invisible friend) that you were talking to last week that they would-be partners.

- We see Toxic Attraction arriving at the CWC.

- There is a clip of Cora Jade and Raquel Gonzalez training together for the Dusty Cup.

- McKenzie Mitchell is in the Toxic Lounge. Jacy Jayne says that Toxic Attraction will be sitting in the Toxic Lounge throughout the entirety of the Dusty Cup tournament.

Women's Dusty Rhodes Tag-Team Classic First Round Match
Io Shirai and Kay Lee Ray vs. Amari Miller and Lash Legend

Lash Legend takes down Io Shirai with a shoulder tackle once the bell rings. Shirai hits Legend with the 619, but Legend is up rather quickly and begins throwing some shots in at Shirai. Amari Miller tags herself in, and she runs right at Shirai, and Shirai takes her down with ease. Kay Lee Ray is in now, Kay Lee gets some offense in, but Amari Miller gets away from Kay Lee and tags in Lash; Kay Lee hits Legend with a superkick.

Kay Lee hits Lash with the KLR Bomb and then tags in Shirai, and Shirai hits the moonsault and gets the victory after pinning Lash Legend.

Winners: Io Shirai and Kay Lee Ray

- Dante Chen cuts a promo and says he will get his vengeance on Duke Hudson this week.

- Brooks and Jensen are doing a backstage promo, and they are recording a video for Jensen's dating profile.

Duke Hudson vs. Dante Chen

Duke Hudson's music hits, and Dante Chen attacks Hudson from behind. Chen gets Hudson into the ring, and Chen takes the legs out of Hudson. Chen slams Hudson's leg into the ring post. Hudson and Chen are exchanging strikes; Chen hits Hudson with a DDT. Chen goes for the quick pin attempt, but Hudson kicks out at two.

Hudson regroups and hits Chen with a big boot to the face of Dante Chen. After that, Hudson hits his finisher, the crucifix bomb, and then pins Chen to get the victory.

Winner: Duke Hudson

- Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams make their way out for an in-ring promo. Hayes says, "when I shoot, I don't freaking miss." Hayes says he did everything that he said he would. Hayes says that he put on a lifetime performance, and everyone was talking about the "A" Champion.

Pete Dunne comes out and challenges Carmelo Hayes to a match. Hayes accepts the challenge. Trick Williams tells Dunne "that we are going to beat you as we did to Cameron Grimes last week." Cameron Grimes appears out of nowhere and takes out Hayes and Williams. They then go to a commercial break.

Cameron Grimes vs. Trick Williams ( w/ Carmelo Hayes)

They return from the commercial break with the match already in progress. Cameron Grimes is in control of the match. Trick Williams hits Grimes with a back elbow and hits a flying clothesline. Williams has Grimes in the corner and begins hitting him multiple strikes. Williams slams down Grimes and then goes for the pin attempt, but Grimes kicks out.

Williams has a submission hold on Grimes; Grimes attempts to get out of it; however, Williams grabs Grimes by the head and slams him down. Grimes comes back and hits Williams with a few shots. Williams retreats and exits the ring.

Grimes chases after him and then hits Williams with a superkick. Grimes gets Williams back in the ring and hits the Cave In. Grimes pins Williams to get the victory.

Winner: Cameron Grimes

- We see Brooks Jensen doing more videos for his online profile.

- Tommaso Ciampa is preparing for his match against Dolph Ziggler. Bron Breakker then appears on screen and tells Ciampa that he appreciates him having his back last week.

- We see a vignette of Andre Chase, and he tells his Chase U that he wants to fight Von Wagner.

Nikkita Lyons vs. Kayla Inlay

The bell rings, and the competitors lock up; Nikkita Lyons tosses Kayla Inlay quickly. Lyons and Inlay tie up again; Lyons punches Inlay with a big right. Next, Lyons hits Inlay with a hip toss.

Inlay throws the Lyons onto the rope and begins hitting Lyons with a few knees to the midsection. Lyons returns the favor; Lyons takes Inlay down with one big punch to the stomach.

Lyons hits Inlay with a combination of moves. Inlay attempts to lift Lyons; however, Lyons counters and hits Lyons with a German suplex. Lyons lands on Inlay while doing the splits. Nikkita Lyons then pins Kay Inlay to get the victory.

Winner: Nikkita Lyons

- We have a backstage segment with Duke Hudson and Persia Pirotta; Hudson pulls in Pirotta and kisses her. Indi Hartwell appears and says, "ugh, Persia, what are you doing?" Persia leaves, and Hudson looks over at Hartwell and says, "there was a time that you liked it."

Indi says, "that was a long time ago." But then, the camera pans out, and we see Dexter Lumis put his head down in shame, and Hartwell tells Lumis, "it's not what you think."

- Robert Stone cuts a promo and says next week that Von Wagner and Duke Hudson will meet in the ring.

- The Creed Brothers get introduced, and they come out with Malcolm Bivens. Bivens cuts a promo, and he talks down about Imperium and says Imperium are not fighting champions and that Diamond Mine is the real deal.

Gunther interrupts and talks about how The Creed Brothers will never be Tag-Team champions. Imperium enters the ring, and The Creed Brothers fight with Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner. Gunther grabs Bivens; however, Solo Sikoa enters the ring and takes out Gunther with a superkick. Bivens gives Sikoa a thumbs up for saving him.

- Brooks and Jensen are still doing videos for Jensen's dating profile; Fallon Henry appears and asks Brooks and Jensen what they are doing. She says she will send him a picture and text it later.

- Joe Gacy and Harland are doing a backstage promo with McKenzie Mitchell. They show a video of Gacy and Harland approaching Draco Anthony. They show how they almost got into the fight. Gacy says that Draco and Harland will battle in the ring next week.

- We see Toxic Attraction in the Toxic Lounge awaiting the next Dusty Cup match.

Women's Dusty Rhodes Tag-Team Classic First Round Match
Ivy Nile and Tatum Paxley vs. Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter

The bell rings with Kayden Carter and Tatum Paxley; Carter quickly takes down Paxley. Kayden tags in Kacy Catanzaro enters the ring, and she gets a few strikes in on Paxley. Paxley tags in Ivy Nile; Nile enters the ring and takes out Kacy with a kick to the throat.

Nile tags back in Paxley, Paxley gets in a few strikes on Catanzaro, but Catanzaro makes it over to Carter for the tag.

Carter nails Paxley with a few shots; Carter sends Ivy out of the ring. Then, Carter sets up Catanzaro for a 450 Splash. Catanzaro pins Paxley, moving on to the next round in the Dusty Cup.

After the match, Ivy Nile attacks Tatum Paxley for losing their match.

Winners: Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter

- Solo Sikoa is backstage for an interview, and McKenzie Mitchell says that Sikoa will face Gunther next week on NXT.

LA Knight cuts a backstage promo, calls out Grayson Waller again and calls out Sanga. LA Knight says it's only a matter of time until he finishes this.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Tommaso Ciampa

Tommaso Ciampa and Dolph Ziggler begin the match with a collar-and-elbow tie-up. They exchange strikes and counters, Ciampa goes for the Fairy Tale Ending, but Ziggler stops it. Instead, Ziggler hits Ciampa with a quick punch to Ciampa's face.

Ziggler takes control and hits Ciampa with a neckbreaker; Ziggler goes for the pin; however, Ciampa kicks out at two. Ziggler takes Ciampa down with a headlock; Ziggler rakes the eyes of Ciampa. The referee warns Ziggler, and the fans begin to boo.

Ziggler drags Ciampa's face on the top rope; Ziggler takes Ciampa down on the mat for another submission attempt. Eventually, Ciampa gets out of it and starts getting some offense. Ciampa hits Ziggler with two clotheslines, Ciampa with a big running chop.

Ziggler goes for the Zig-Zag, but Ciampa blocks it. Ciampa sends Ziggler outside the ring. Ciampa goes after him and hits Ziggler with a knee to the face. We go to a picture-in-picture break.

Ciampa hits Ziggler with the Air Raid Crash on the edge of the apron. They both fall to the outside of the ring. Ciampa is trying to get Ziggler back in the ring. Ciampa gets back into the ring, and the ref checks on Dolph.

We then see a cameraman run and hit Ciampa with the camera. Ciampa gets back into the ring but is struggling. Ziggler is back up, and he nails Ciampa with a superkick. Ziggler pins Ciampa and is now the number one contender. Finally, the cameraman unmasks himself, and as expected, it is none other than Robert Roode. Roode and Ziggler begin double-teaming Ciampa. Bron Breakker runs out and makes the save.

Breakker challenges Ziggler and Roode to a tag team match for week's NXT. Breakker says that they can fight right now. Roode and Ziggler act as they will leave; however, they run to the ring, and the show goes off the air with all four men in the ring fighting and NXT officials trying to restore order.
