WWE NXT Results for 8/26/20 Imperium vs Breezango for the NXT Tag Team Championship

Good evening Fight Fans, and welcome to our coverage for tonight's edition of WWE NXT featuring Imperium defending their tag belts against Breezango!

- We open tonight's show with a recap of the results of NXT Takeover: XXX.

Netflix Releases WWE Raw Ad, Details For International Fans

- We open in the PC with the entrance of the new NXT champion Karrion Kross and Scarlett. Kross with a sling on his right arm says that he'd said it again and again that he'd become NXT champion and that everyone would suffer on the way to him becoming champion. Kross says he made good on his word when he ripped the NXT title from Keith Lee and that there will always be casualties on both sides in a war. Kross says that he'll have to vacate the belt due to his separated shoulder he suffered in his victory at Takeover. Kross then puts the title on the mat and says that it changes nothing and that doomsday is still coming.

- We throw to the announce desk where we're introduced to the return of Wade Barrett to WWE, making his NXT commentary debut. We then go back to the ring for our opening match between Imperium and Breezango for the NXT Tag Team titles.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match

Imperium (c) vs Breezango

Breezango attack Imperium when they're making their introductions before Fabian and Fandango kick things off. Marcel gets the blind tag and takes Fandango down before he gets to his feet and Marcel drops him with a shoulder block. They then run the ropes before Fandango dropkicks Marcel as we go to commercial.

We come back to Imperium in control, Fabian hitting a butterfly suplex for two before Fandango dumps Fabian out of the ring when Imperium try to double team him. Tyler gets the hot tag and hits a running forearm in the corner before rocking Marcel with a jumping knee. Tyler gets two off of a wheel kick when Marcel comes off of the top before Marcel hits an enzuigiri. Marcel kicks Tyler away when he takes him down before leaping to tag in Fabian and Breezango hit a diving leg drop backbreaker combo. Fabian helps Marcel out of the ring to avoid the pin before Fandango hits a suicide dive to Fabian. 

Marcel then rushes from off camera and takes out Fandango with a running uppercut as we go to commercial.

Back in the ring Fabian hits a rolling senton into a moonsault for two before Marcel sends Tyler out of the ring with an uppercut and sends him into the plexiglass. Fandango comes back with a jawbreaker before Fabian falls back into a tag and Imperium hit a flurry of double team moves for two. Imperium go for their signature dropkicks, but Marcel accidentally takes out Fabian and Tyler takes them out with superkicks. Fandango then gets the tag and hits a double leg drop before covering Fabian for the pin and the win.

Winner: Breezango defeat Imperium via pinfall to become the new NXT Tag Team champions.

- Newly crowned North American champion Damian Priest is interviewed backstage before Timothy Thatcher walks up and says that he wants to take the belt from him and that he doesn't respect it. Damian then says that he's well equipped to handle the challenge before chuckling and leaving.

- We get a graphic for the return of Tommaso Ciampa up next as we go to commercial.

Jake Atlas vs Tommaso Ciampa

Ciampa backs Atlas into the corner before they get into a shoving match and Ciampa stomps Atlas down in the corner. Ciampa then hits the Willows Bell for the pin and the win.

Winner: Tommaso Ciampa defeats Jake Atlas via pinfall.

- Ciampa attacks Atlas after the match and sends him into and flying over the steps before beating on him until he's pulled off by officials. Ciampa then slingshots Atlas into the underside of the ring before hitting a draping DDT off of the gurney Jake is put on.

- We get a video package for Candice LeRae and Tegan Nox where Candice talks about how they were friends and that Nox can go down the path she's gone or they'll have problems as we go to commercial.

- Bronson Reed is interviewed backstage about his near victory at Takeover before Austin Theory walks up and mocks him. Bronson then proceeds to slap Austin across the face before leaving and Austin holds his cheek and smiles while nodding before we go back to the ring.

Mia Yim vs Shotzi Blackheart

Before the match starts Robert Stone and Aliyah come out onto the ramp and Robert tells Mia that she won't be facing Mercedes Martinez before Shotzi Blackheart runs him over with her tank. Shotzi takes Mia down and hits a leg drop before they run the ropes and Mia hits a head scissors. Mia counters a code breaker before they catch each other's kicks and Mia chops Shotzi in the throat when she howls. Mia hits a snap mare and kicks Shotzi in the back before locking in a bow and arrow. Shotzi rolls over on top of Mia for two before hitting a running splash in the corner into a bulldog out of the corner.

Shotzi rocks Mia with several kicks before hitting a back suplex for two before Mia hits a dragon suplex. Mia then misses a missile dropkick before Shotzi hits a running senton into a high angle diving senton for the pin and the win.

Winner: Shotzi Blackheart defeats Mia Yim via pinfall.

- Backstage NXT General Manager William Regal is briefly interviewed about the future of the NXT title before saying that he will address it in the ring before leaving as we go to commercial.

- Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez are interviewed backstage ahead of their tag match against NXT Women's champion Io Shirai and Rhea Ripley later tonight.


- William Regal is in the ring with the vacant NXT title belt before he announces that next week there will be a four way 60 minute Iron Man match between Finn Bälor, Johnny Gargano, Adam Cole and Tommaso Ciampa to crown a new champion.

NXT Cruiserweight Championship Match

Santos Escobar (c) vs Isaiah Scott

Escobar wrenches the arm of Scott before Scott sends Escobar out of the ring. Escobar then backs off when Scott teases a tope as we go to commercial.

We come back to Escobar having Scott in a headlock on the mat before Scott hits a head scissors into a delayed suplex for two. Scott puts Escobar in a submission before turning it into a pinning predicament with a back slide for two. Scott goes for an armbar before Escobar scrambles free and sends Scott off of the apron and into the plexiglass.  Escobar drops Scott across the steps before kicking him and tossing him back into the ring for two. Escobar chops the chest of Scott and stomps him before sending him into the corner and hitting running knees in the corner for two.

Escobar then counters a springboard frankensteiner into an avalanche sit-out powerbomb for two as we go to commercial.

We come back to Escobar still in control until he spits in the face of Scott who becomes enraged and lays into Escobar with strikes. Scott hits a diving elbow drop before Escobar rolls out of the ring and Scott hits a tope before tossing Escobar back inside. Scott hits a rolling flat liner for two before Wilde comes out of nowhere and distracts the referee while Mendoza distracts Scott. Escobar capitalizes on the distraction for a near fall before Breezango come out and brawl with Wilde and Mendoza to the back. Scott gets a near fall off of a bridging German suplex before hitting Escobar with the House Call for a near fall.

Scott hits the JML Driver for a near fall when Escobar grabs the bottom rope before Escobar rolls out of the ring. Escobar then picks up his luchadore mask and headbutts Scott for the pin and the win.

Winner: Santos Escobar retains his Cruiserweight Championship by defeating Isaiah Scott via pinfall.

- Backstage Johnny Gargano cuts a promo about his career and how Kross' injury gives him a golden opportunity to win the NXT Championship. Johnny then says that he's been the NXT Ironman for years before saying that he's going to win the belt next week.

- We get a graphic for Kyle O'Reilly versus Drake Maverick up next as we go to commercial.

- Finn Bälor cuts a promo about how he's going to spend every minute of the Ironman match showing that he's the best in NXT.

Kyle O'Reilly w/Undisputed Era (Roderick Strong & Bobby Fish) vs Drake Maverick

Drake goes right after Kyle and sends him through the ropes and crashing down onto the floor. Drake takes out the rest of UE at ringside before Kyle drops Drake with a kick once they're back in the ring. Kyle mocks Drake and kicks him several more times before Drake comes back with a snap mare and kicks of his own. Drake hits a running bulldog into a running senton before Kyle turns him inside out with a kitchen sink. They exchange forearms before Kyle drops Drake with a kick to the knee and Drake rocks him with an enzuigiri.

Kyle then counters a shiranui and locks in a knee bar before Kyle turns it into an Achilles lock for the tap and the win.

Winner: Kyle O'Reilly defeats Drake Maverick via submission.

- UE attack Drake after the match before he's saved by Killian Dain only for Dain to lay him out with a lariat.

- We get video stills of Io Shirai retaining against Dakota Kai at Takeover as we go backstage to an interview with Rhea ahead of her teaming up with Io as we go to commercial.

Io Shirai & Rhea Ripley vs Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez

Rhea and Dakota start things off before Raquel quickly gets the tag when Dakota is overpowered. Rhea headbutts Raquel before Raquel shoves her back and Io gets the tag before hitting a head scissors that sends Raquel out of the ring. Io then goes to hit Kai on the apron before she gets down and gets into a verbal fight with Io as we go to commercial.

Io hits a stomp to Kai as we come back from the break before Rhea comes in and gets Kai on her shoulders. Raquel gets the blind tag and she and Kai send Rhea over the top rope and down onto the floor before smashing her face into the apron. Raquel tosses Rhea back into the ring for two before Kai comes in and rolls Rhea up for two. Raquel and Dakota isolate Rhea until she rocks Raquel with a kick and gets the hot tag to the champion. Io takes out Kai and Gonzalez single handedly before hitting a springboard missile dropkick to Kai for two.

Kai rocks Io with a scorpion kick before Io hits a rip cord knee and a bridging German suplex for a near fall that Raquel breaks up. Kai hits a running boot with Io on Raquel's shoulder before Raquel slams her down for a near fall. Rhea gets the tag, but the referee doesn't see it before Mercedes Martinez takes out Rhea. Rhea then gets the tag and Raquel hits her with a boot into a one-armed powerbomb for the pin and the win.

Winner: Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai defeat Rhea Ripley and Io Shirai via pinfall.
