WWE Raw: Day 1 (1/1/24) Results: Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre For World Title, Rhea Ripley Defends

WWE hosted its latest episode of Monday Night Raw on January 1, 2024. The episode was the WWE Day 1 special featuring Seth "Freakin" Rollins putting his World Title on the line against the dangerous Drew McIntyre.

Also, Rhea Ripley will defend her Women's World Title against Ivy Nile and Becky Lynch looks to settle an old score by taking on Nia Jax.

WWE Raw: Day 1 (1/1/24) Results

- Michael Cole and Wade Barrett ran down the card for tonight. Cole confirms that a former WWE Champion will return tonight, as initially reported by Fightful Select.

A video package runs down the history between Becky Lynch and Nia Jax.

* Nia Jax def. Becky Lynch

- A video package recap of the tension between Cody Rhodes and Shinsuke Nakamura. Cody Rhodes will address the WWE Universe next.

- Cody Rhodes comes out and says that he wants to move forward but he is stuck on Shinsuke Nakamura. He says he wants Shinsuke to come out and face him right now. Nakamura appears on the video wall and tells Cody that he's going to give him one more week to think about it. Nakamura promises to finish Cody's story and close the book on him.

- CM Punk is slated to return to WWE Raw next week. He is also slated for the go-home episode of Monday Night Raw before the Royal Rumble. Learn more here.

* Jey Uso & Kofi Kingston def. Imperium (Giovanni Vinci & Ludwig Kaiser) by way of referee stoppage.

- The match was stopped quickly after Giovanni Vinci took a bump on a dropkick that saw the ringside doctor enter the ring and call for the action to be halted.

- A video package then celebrated WWE's recent successful house show loop.

- The Miz entered the arena to host Miz TV featuring Judgment Day. He's also dressed to wrestle.

The Miz invites Judgment Day to the ring. R-Truth arrives on the scene. He still thinks he's part of Judgment Day. He and Miz banter back and forth for a while. They are eventually interrupted by JD McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio. Truth still thinks that McDonough is not a part of the group anymore but he is. All of this leads to a tag team match that features the reuniting of The Awesome Truth.

* The Awesome Truth (The Miz & R-Truth) def. Judgment Day (JD McDonagh & Dominik Mysterio)

- A vignette is shown of Katana Chance and Kaden Carter celebrating their Tag Team Championship victory at a club. Chelsea Green and Piper Niven arrive to confront them. Chelsea says that they're going to go to Nicholas Aldis to get their rematch instead of going to Adam Pierce. Katana says they have no problem giving them a rematch but not tonight because tonight is about them. The current WWE Women's Tag Team Champions throw their drinks on the former champions and security kicks them out of the club.

* Women's World Championship: Rhea Ripley (c) def. Ivy Nile

- Samantha Irvin tells the crowd that it’s time to welcome back the former Champion. Jinder Mahal arrives. Mahal, incensed by the reaction the crowd gave him, goes on an anti-USA rant. He's eventually cut off by The Rock. The Rock and the San Diego crowd have a lot of fun at the expense of Jinder. Eventually, Mahal tries to attack the rock but he ends up on the receiving end of a Spinebuster and the People's Elbow. After Mahal clears the ring. The Rock says that he is going out to eat and asks the audience whether he should sit at the head of the table or not.

* Zoey Stark & Shayna Baszler def. Natalya & Tegan Nox

* World Heavyweight Championship: Seth Rollins (c) def. Drew McIntyre

- Damian Priest teased a cash-in. Drew cut it off with a Claymore. Sadly for him, a lucky rope break kept Rollins in the fight. Drew went berserk. Rollins was able to follow up an announce table Pedigree with a Curb Stomp for the win.
