Good evening Fight Fans, and welcome to tonight's coverage for Smackdown on FOX with night one of the 2020 WWE Draft!
- We open tonight's show with the first round of the draft conducted by Stephanie McMahon. RAW selects Drew MacIntyre to keep their champion before Smackdown selects and keeps their champion Roman Reigns. RAW also keeps RAW Women's champion Asuka while Smackdown picks up Seth Rollins before RAW holds onto the Hurt Business as the first round ends. Seth is interviewed backstage where he says that it's never been about the name, but about his message before saying that he's upset that he won't see the Mysterio family implode.
Falls Count Anywhere Match
Big-E vs Sheamus
They brawl before Sheamus clotheslines E for two and hits a rolling senton for two before E hits a uranage. E knocks Sheamus off of the apron and onto the floor with a suicide dive for two before grabbing a kendo stick. Sheamus rocks E with a knee for two before driving him into the apron and tying him up in the ropes. Sheamus hits a defenseless E with the kendo stick before E falls off of the apron and down onto the floor for two. Sheamus goes under the ring before E duct tapes his ankles and hits him with the stick as Sheamus hops around.
E then sends Sheamus over the barricade as we go to commercial.
We come back to them backstage where Sheamus suplexes E and pours flour on him before throwing eggs at him and hitting him with luggage. E comes back and hits Sheamus with a broom before hitting him with a trash can and sending him out of the door and into the parking garage. E stalks Sheamus who crawls around cars before Sheamus hits him with a tire iron and hits White Noise onto the hood of a car for a near fall. Sheamus tosses E into the car and hits him with the door before tossing him into the trunk and E stops him from crushing his arm in the trunk. Sheamus goes for a Brogue Kick, but E dodges him before E powerbombs him onto the hood of a car.
E then finishes Sheamus with the Big Ending off of a car and through a table for the pin and the win.
Winner: Big-E defeats Sheamus via pinfall.
- We get a graphic for the Smackdown Women's Championship match between the champion Bayley and challenger Sasha Banks later tonight.
- We come back to the ring with Jey Uso before we immediately go backstage to Big-E being interviewed before Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods show up as New Day reunite.
- We go back to Jey in the ring who calls out his cousin, the Universal champion Roman Reigns to talk about their match at Hell in a Cell. Paul Heyman shows up on the big screen and tells Jey that Roman applauds anyone ambitious in the company, but to beware when they step up to face Roman. Paul shows a video package of Roman's brutal beat down of Jey at Clash of Champions before we go to Roman in the locker room. Roman says that he tried to help Jey and all he had to do was acknowledge him as Tribal Chief before informing us that their match at HIAC will be an I Quit match. Roman then cryptically says that there will be consequences after Jey says I quit as we go to commercial.
- We come back to round two of the draft with AJ Styles heading to RAW, Smackdown keeping Sasha, RAW taking Naomi with Smackdown choosing Bianca Belair. The second round then ends with RAW keeping the Women's Tag Team champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. We then go to AJ who says he should have been picked number one by Smackdown before saying that he's relieved that he doesn't have to deal with Jeff Hardy and Sami Zayn.
The Miz & John Morrison vs Jeff Hardy & Matt Riddle
Matt and John start the match off before Matt and Jeff double up on John and clear the ring as we go to commercial.
We come back to John in control of Matt before Matt gets the hot tag and Jeff hits John with a Twist of Fate before Miz sends Jeff out of the ring. Matt then hits Miz with the Bro Derek for the pin and the win.
Winner: Matt Riddle and Jeff Hardy defeat The Miz and John Morrison via pinfall.
- Lars Sullivan returns after the match and takes out both Jeff and Matt before attacking The Miz as we go to commercial.
- We come back to the third round of the draft with RAW taking Miz and Morrison, Smackdown taking Rey and Dominik, Mandy staying on RAW, RAW keeping Ricochet and Jey staying on Smackdown.
Smackdown Women's Championship match
Bayley (c) vs Sasha Banks
Sasha immediately goes after Bayley who rolls out of the ring and Sasha tosses her back inside before rolling her up for one. Sasha immediately locks in the Banks Statement before Bayley counters into a pinning predicament. The two exchange pin attempts until Bayley clotheslines Sasha and Sasha reapplies the Banks Statement before Bayley gets to the ropes for the break. Bayley then hits Sasha with a chair for the disqualification.
Winner: Sasha Banks defeats Bayley via pinfall, but Bayley retains her title due to champions advantage.
- After the match Sasha attacks Bayley with a chair after the match before Bayley escapes.
- We get this week's Progressive Match Flo recapping Alex's Bliss on the KO Show before The Fiend showed up and incapacitated him with the Mandible Claw ahead of their match in tonight's main event. we then see Kevin getting ready backstage before Alexa walks up to him and tells him to let The Fiend in as we go to commercial.
Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match
Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro (c) vs The New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi)
Xavier and Cesaro start things off with Cesaro in control before Xavier comes back and hits a backbreaker into a diving stomp by Kofi for a near fall that Shin breaks up. Shinsuke then sends Xavier out of the ring as we go to commercial.
We come back to Xavier in control, hitting a dropkick through the ropes to Cesaro before DDTing Shin for two. Shin hits a kick into a suplex by Cesaro for two before Kofi tags in and sends Cesaro out of the ring. Kofi hits a springboard tornado DDT onto the floor before Cesaro catches him in midair with an uppercut for two. Kofi then hits Cesaro with Trouble in Paradise before hitting Shin with it and Xavier hits a diving elbow drop for the pin and the win.
Winner: The New Day defeat Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro via pinfall to become the new Smackdown Tag Team champions.
- Round four of the draft begins with Kofi and Xavier being drafted to RAW, E staying on RAW, Dana moving to RAW, Smackdown keeping Otis and Angel Garza staying on RAW as we go to commercial.
- We come back to Otis and Tucker backstage before Otis is served a notice that the trial will continue.
- We come back to Sasha backstage who calls Bayley a coward and says that she's done playing games before challenging her to a Hell in a Cell match for the title.
The Fiend vs Kevin Owens
Kevin gives The Fiend everything he has, but he just gets right back up before hitting a running cross body. The Fiend catches a kick by Kevin and hits a thrust to the throat and plants Kevin onto the mat before headbutting Kevin. Kevin comes back with a clothesline before The Fiend locks in a standing arm triangle choke that Kevin elbows his way out of. The Fiend then hits a uranage and Sister Abigail onto the edge of the announce table as we go to commercial.
We come back to Kevin hitting a diving splash off of the apron and onto the floor onto The Fiend. Kevin hits a pop-up powerbomb before hitting a second one through the announce table. The Fiend gets back into the ring and locks in the Mandible Claw before Kevin hits a stunner. However, The Fiend keeps the hold on before hitting a uranage and pinning Kevin with the Mandible Claw still applied for the win.
Winner: The Fiend defeats Kevin Owens via pinfall.
- We end the show with The Fiend and Alexa Bliss looking down towards Kevin from the ramp as we go off the air.
