At WrestleMania 39, Mysterio wore a mask similar to what Great Muta wore in the later years of his career, with a color scheme befitting of The Flash.

Speaking at the post-WrestleMania 39 press conference, Mysterio told Connor Casey of Comic Book that the mask has been in the works for the past six years, and he felt it was the perfect time to put the idea to good use.

"Six years ago, this mask has been in the projects. The creator of this mask is the creator of Hollywood, the Marvel Universe. That's how deep it went. WrestleMania goes Hollywood, it was the perfect time. We didn't go superhero, we went Hollywood style this year. I was very happy with the outcome. On top of that, we had a mixture of the mask being made by a good friend of ours, Darnell, who works for the Marvel Universe, and (Masahiro) Hayashi, my creator since 1996, who made the tights, the vest, and everything else. I'm very happy with the outcome of the outfit tonight. I hope the fans loved it as much as I did," said Rey.

Rey Mysterio defeated his son, Dominik at WrestleMania 39, thanks to some help from Bad Bunny. Learn more about that at this link.
