On the SmackDown before WWE Survivor Series 2019, Rhea Ripley pinned Charlotte Flair in a triple threat match that also involved Sasha Banks. The finish came when Ripley crucifixed Charlotte, who was bridged in the Figure 8.
Speaking to Alex McCarthy of TalkSPORT, Ripley revealed who came up with the creative finish.
“I wish I could say it was mine! I really do, but it wasn’t," she said. "It was Charlotte! She’s so smart, she was coming up with the coolest things. I felt so stupid [by comparison]. I took so much credit for it and I was like ‘yes, give me the credit’ [laughs]."
Ripley made a surprise appearance on WWE Raw, confronting Charlotte and challenging Charlotte to challenge her for a WrestleMania 36 bout.
Pinning Charlotte was just the first big moment of WWE Survivor Series weekend for Ripley. She would go on to pin then NXT Champion Shayna Baszler at NXT TakeOver: WarGames and then win the Women's Survivor Series bout for Team NXT by defeating Sasha Banks.
Ripley would use that momentum to capture the NXT Championship from Baszler on the Dec. 18 episode of NXT. She is scheduled to defend her title against Bianca Belair at NXT TakeOver: Portland.
