Ric Flair Thinks Some People In WWE Are Upset He's Working For AEW, 'They're Not Mad, But They Did Something'

Ric Flair says people in WWE are upset he's with AEW.

Ric Flair officially signed with AEW on November 2 after being presented as the special gift to Sting on the October 25 episode of AEW Dynamite. Flair had not appeared on WWE since he was released by the company in 2021, but was still acknowledged by the WWE.

Speaking to Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, Shannon mentioned how the NFL would bring back legendary players and honor them at the Super Bowl. He wondered if WWE did the same thing for WrestleMania since that is considered their Super Bowl.

Flair said that WWE does honor legends and that he still has ties to the business before saying, "I think some people are upset with me now that I went to work at AEW. I don't know why. If you're acknowledging, and you think I've contributed to the business, and I know I have because I hear it every day, you would think they would let me do whatever I want to do. As long as it doesn't affect them. I'm not going to get on TV and say 'AEW is better,' I'm not doing something stupid. I'm just working. That's all I know how to do. They're mad. Not mad, but they did something...I'll tell you off camera."

Flair did not elaborate on what happened.

When Sharpe said that Flair is a big star outside of wrestling as he's reference in songs and knows of "The Nature Boy," Flair said that people "begrudge him" because of that.

He concluded by saying, "You know the old saying, 'you want to hear someone is doing good, but not too good.'? That make sense?"

Flair's "Woooo" is still part of the WWE signature open. It was removed for a time in September 2021 after having sexual misconduct allegations against him and having the depiction of said allegations featured in Dark Side of the Ring. Flair's daughter Charlotte works for WWE and is set to compete at WWE Survivor Series.

Flair appeared at AEW Full Gear, corning Sting, Adam Copeland, & Darby Allin against Christian Cage, Nick Wayne, & Luchasaurus.
