“The Dragon” current members of today's WWE roster he wishes he could step inside the ring with and which WWE legend he regrets never having a one-on-one match with.
Ricky Steamboat is a name that constantly comes up in the conversation of the best in-ring performers of all time. His matches with Ric Flair are legendary and the match he had with Randy Savage at WrestleMania 3 in 1987 is still considered by many to be the best match in WWE history.
Speaking with Andreas Hale of Sporting News, Ricky Steamboat reveals which modern-day WWE Superstars he thinks he could have created similar levels of excitement with in the squared circle.
“Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns and AJ Styles. Seth Rollins was a guy who came to WWE with years of time in the indies but he listened and he just got it. Styles is a great mix of old and new school. Bray Wyatt has always been able to step up when asked to do something different. He’s very athletic for his size but it’s all about his creativity.”
Continuing on, Steamboat mansions Shawn Michaels as the one WWE Hall of Famer he wishes he could have had a singles contest with.
“I would have loved to work with Shawn Michaels. I was in the twilight of my career when he came to WWE,” said Steamboat. “Bret Hart as well. We only got a chance to work together a few times but one of my best matches was against him at Boston Garden. He’s a guy I wished I could have worked many, many times with.”
