Roman Reigns’ next challenger has emerged.
In the main event of the June 10 episode of WWE SmackDown, Riddle faced Sami Zayn in a match where if he won, he would earn a Universal Championship Match against Roman Reigns next week, July 17. If he lost, however, he would be barred from returning to SmackDown.
Roman interfered in RKBro’s Tag Title Unification Match against The Usos a few weeks ago, costing them the Raw belts. Furthermore, The Bloodline continued their assault on Riddle and Randy Orton after the bell, putting The Viper on the injured list for the foreseeable future.
There was also plenty on the line for Sami, as a victory would provide Paul Heyman with the ammunition needed to approach Roman Reigns about making him an official member of The Bloodline. A loss, though, would not bode well for the Honorary-Uce.
In a hard-fought encounter, Riddle was able to pick up the win after hitting an RKO while Sami was trying for a Helluva Kick. The Usos attacked Riddle after the bell but he fought back with a kendo stick, standing tall to end the show.
