Rob Van Dam shares his thoughts following his AEW in-ring debut.
WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam wrestled for AEW for the first time on the August 9 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he challenged Jack Perry for the FTW Championship. The bout came one week after Van Dam made his AEW debut by coming to Jerry Lynn's aid, confronting Perry and challenging him to a match. Perry emerged victorious when he faced the legend, but the win came with some controversy as he hit Van Dam below the belt.
In a Digital Exclusive, Rob Van Dam shared his thoughts following his AEW in-ring debut.
“Well, it felt pretty awesome going tonight, I gotta say. I count on the fans’ positive energy that they bring. I rely on connecting with them, but I’m still overwhelmed when they all have RVD signs and they’re all in unison chanting for me. It always exceeds my expectation. When that moment is real and I’m connected to them, it’s nothing but love. Love is the most powerful energy in the universe," Rob Van Dam said.
Jerry Lynn, who was standing by Van Dam's side, also commented on the veteran's first match in AEW. He noted that he and Van Dam always tried to prove that they were the best with wrestling, rather than taking shortcuts.
“It didn’t go his way tonight, but the way it happened, you can’t lose any face. I saw what happened, and at least with us two, we always wanted to try and prove how we were the best with wrestling and no shortcuts," Lynn said.
