On the September 15 episode of WWE SmackDown, The Rock returned to the promotion for the first time since 2019.
The Rock's entrance was set up by Pat McAfee, who was in the ring and verbally sparring with Austin Theory. Rock had appeared on McAfee's show earlier in the day.
Taking to social media, The Rock shared a behind the scenes video of his entrance and commented further on his return.

The Rock's return was a big hit on social media as the video received over 103 million views across multiple social platforms.
