Rockstar Spud Named General Manager Of 205 Live, 16 Man Tournament For Cruiserweight Title Starts Tonight

A new era for 205 Live has begun tonight.

Daniel Bryan came out to start the show and introduced the new General Manager of 205 Live, Drake Maverick, the former Rockstar Spud. Maverick announced that a 16 man single elimination tournament would start tonight, with Cedric Alexander facing Gran Metalik and and TJP taking on former WWE United Kingdom champion Tyler Bate. That tournament will culminate at WrestleMania, where the new cruiserweight champion will be crowned.

Maverick had signed with WWE recently, with speculation he was set to debut last month. He had been a part of Impact for a number of years, starting with their Gut Check Challenge in 2012. He officially left Impact back in October.

The tournament comes following Enzo Amore's firing from WWE following allegations of rape. He was stripped of the championship after the firing and it was announced last week on 205 Live that he had abdicated the championship.
