Rocky Romero is now a champion in MLW and CMLL.
At MLW Slaughterhouse, MLW World Middleweight Champion AKIRA put the gold on the line against NWA World Historic Welterweight Champion Rocky Romero. Both titles were in the line in the interpromotional match. AKIRA had some help, as some members of The Calling were at ringside, while Salina de la Renta was in Romero's corner.
Both champions battled it out in a hard-fought contest. Salina got on the apron and distracted AKIRA. She also shoved him into the members of The Calling to help Romero take control. Romero ultimately played dirty to clinch the win, as he blasted AKIRA below the belt and pinned him with a Sunset Driver.

AKIRA previously won the title at MLW War Chamber on April 6; the three-way match also included Lince Dorado and Lio Rush.
On September 27, NJPW, CMLL, and MLW announced that they formed a strategic alliance. Fightful Select reported more information about the collaboration.
