Rocky Romero talks about the global expansion of AEW and its working relationships with NJPW and CMLL.
Rocky Romero is the liaison between NJPW, AEW, and CMLL. These relationships have facilitated multiple dream matches and several events predicated around the idea of the best talents from these promotions facing one another, like AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door or NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty.
During a conversation with Case Lowe of Q101 in Chicago, Rocky Romero was asked about Tony Khan, who said that he would like AEW to run an event in Mexico and if he could shed any light on forthcoming news about the partnership between AEW, CMLL, and NJPW. Rocky Romero said there would be some cool news coming very soon. He also spoke about his desire to see AEW run one of their weekly television shows and a proper AEW event in Japan.
"I think that there's going to be a lot of cool stuff coming down the pipeline very, very, very soon. So I'll say that. I think Tony's right. I think it would be amazing to bring more AEW internationally. Obviously, they did a Grand Slam in Australia, that was a huge success. The last two shows in London, All In, have been incredible. I think that's where AEW is at now: trying to take it internationally. I'd also like to see AEW go over to Japan and do a proper Dynamite or Collision there or a pay-per-view there. It would be amazing... So, yeah, I think there's some very cool news that is going to be coming very soon."
