Konosuke Takeshita gets a partner.
New Japan Pro-Wrestling announced that Rocky Romero will be Konosuke Takeshita's partner at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku on May 3rd and May 4th.
Romero & Takeshita will face El Phantasmo & Jado on May 3rd and El Phantasmo & Boltin Oleg on May 4th.
From NJPW:
In the wake of an emotional main event at Windy City Riot this past weekend, El Phantasmo offered his congratulations to Konosuke Takeshita for defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi, but reminded the NEVER Openweight Champion of a hard fought war the two had during the G1 Climax last summer. ELP challenged the Alpha to a match at Resurgence May 9 for the title, a challenge that the Alpha accepted, yet no sooner had the words left both men's lips then Phantasmo was attacked by Rocky Romero.
One time arch enemies, Romero and Phantasmo had teamed together for the first time ever earlier in the night, and it was clear the two were far from being on the same page. Yet it wasn't until AEW's Collision that this seemed to be more than an issue of frustration with Phantasmo.
Romero would team with Tomohiro Ishii on the night to face Takeshita and his tag team partner Josh Alexander, who had recently been recruited to Don Callis' stable of wrestlers. After Ishii and Romero butted heads through the match, Romero dropped off the apron, refusing to tag the newly crowned NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion, and leaving Ishii to the wolves. Then, a returning Beretta, Rocky's former Roppongi Vice partner continued to pile on the damage together with Rocky and a jubilant Callis.
Now Romero and Takeshita are united under the Callis Family banner, and set to tag at Dontaku. But against ELP and Jado on May 3 and then Phantasmo with Boltin Oleg on May 4, has Rocky bitten off more than he can chew?
