Roderick Strong builds one alliance while trying to rekindle another.
At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Gabe Kidd and Roderick Strong teamed up for a four-way tag team match. They faced House of Black (Brody King and Malakai Black), Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen), and Kyle O'Reilly and Tomohiro Ishii. Black and King scored the win.
In a digital exclusive, Roderick Strong, Matt Taven, and Mike Bennett regrouped after the loss. Taven noted that he wanted Kyle O'Reilly to be on their side.
Matt Taven: I’m sick of this. Why are we always out there fighting Kyle? Enough of this. It’s gotta be like it used to be.
Gabe Kidd confronted the trio and noted that they did not need Taven or Bennett to help them win. Strong then encouraged Kidd to settle down. Kidd responded by saying that their partnership could work down the road.
Roderick Strong: Gabe! Settle, bro. Listen, I like this. We got something here. Settle. We’re not your enemies.
Gabe Kidd: Listen to me now, all of you listen to me. Me and you weren’t on the same page, were we? But I looked in your eyes, I’ve seen that killer instinct. I seen that old Roderick Strong coming out. That’s what I like. That’s why this can work, but we gotta get on the same page. Are we clear? It didn’t work today. That doesn’t mean that it can’t happen tomorrow, Tag League, Tokyo Dome, wherever. It can happen anywhere.
Kidd left, and Taven reiterated that he wanted O'Reilly to be the one teaming up with Strong. Strong then sent a brief message to O'Reilly.
MT: I’d rather it be Kyle.
RS: Kyle, please stop. Please stop resisting the inevitable. We’ll see you soon.
