At WWE Survivor Series 2012, a trio consisting of Jon Moxley (Dean Ambrose in WWE), Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns made their debut as mercenaries for CM Punk.
Collectively known as The Shield, the trio has been at the forefront of pro wrestling for the last 12 years, amassing success collectively and individually.
Of all the memorable Survivor Series moments throughout the years, Roman believes The Shield's debut is tops.
"I’m not a historian. My career has been so long and I’ve been involved in (so much). I debuted at Survivor Series. I don’t even know. I have to go with that. My debut. The Shield’s debut is the most special thing that ever happened at Survivor Series. There are a lot of really great debuts. It’s odd how many big time debuts happened at Survivor Series. Dwayne (Johnson aka The Rock) was one of them. Undertaker (debuted at Survivor Seires). Based off how it all shaped out, The Shield debuting was one of the greatest transitional situations of three young talent coming in, taking the company by the neck, and this is what you have today," Roman told Jimmy Traina on the SI Media podcast.
Reigns is set to compete in his eighth Survivor Series match on Saturday as he leads team OG Bloodline (Roman, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, CM Punk, & Sami Zayn) against The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, & Bronson Reed) in WarGames.
Fightful will have coverage of WWE Survivor Series beginning at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday.
