Ronda Rousey speaks about her motor speech disorder.
The current RAW Women's Champion Ronda Rousey has been with the WWE for one full year and is coming up on the anniversary of her in-ring debut with the sports-entertainment company. One year into her run in professional wrestling and Ronda has been RAW Women's Champion for seven months and next Sunday at WWE's 'Elimination Chamber' pay-per-view she will defend her title against Ruby Riott.
Although Ronda has a title match coming up, her attention has been focused on Becky Lynch who she is slated to face at WrestleMania 35 if she can make it to April 7th as champion. In the most recent social media exchange between the two superstars, Becky Lynch made fun of how fast Ronda Rousey talks in her promos and during Ronda's post-RAW Q&A session on her YouTube page, she spoke about the motor speech disorder that she grew up with that causes her to mix words.
"Well first of all, I grew up with motor speech disorder and I mix words sometimes, and I kept accidentally saying MestleWania instead of WrestleMania a bunch of times today. MestleWania, WrestleMania. Yes I was saying a bunch of words and a lot of times I’ll accidentally switch… because I’ll be thinking about a word to say but already thinking about the next word that I’m gonna say, so then sometimes I’ll switch the first letter between the word I’m saying and the next word I’m gonna say. But I think that’s one reason why I really enjoy this. I always really enjoyed acting too. I always thought it was really fun but, even when I was young, first grade I was so stoked to be Angel #1 in the school play. It was like the biggest part. It had five lines. I remember a lot of those still to this day because I said them so many times, and I remember my speech pathologist -- my mom sent that video to her and she just couldn’t believe it was the same kid." Ronda recalled. "Like it really was a struggle, and I came a really, really long way and… that’s why I’m really excited to talk about apraxia [speech disorder] and things like that.”
