Ronda still feels that she has something to prove.
The current RAW Women's Champion Ronda Rousey has been reigning as champion since August of 2018 and is set to defend her title against Sasha Banks at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Ronda has been very open about being excited to face Sasha Banks because of how good a wrestler she believes Sasha is. Ronda's in-ring work has been praised as well as she has officially been wrestling for a full year and although she receives a great deal of praise, Ronda feels that she still has more to prove and what she wants to prove is that she can wrestle on the fly without memorizing a match with her opponent from beginning to end.
Ronda discussed this very topic during her post-Memphis WWE RAW Q&A on her YouTube channel and spoke about how she wants to compete in a Royal Rumble match to prove to herself and to everyone else that she can go in the ring and call it but is not confident that she'll ever be in a Royal Rumble match.
“One of my dreams in the WWE when I first came here, one of the first things I really wanted to do… I don’t know, I just felt like I would never be able to prove to anyone that I actually knew how to wrestle, in a way that wasn’t just memorized from beginning to end unless I could like… if I’m the first one out in the Royal Rumble and I go all the way to the end and win it, then nobody could say I don’t know how to wrestle." Ronda explained. "That was like, to me the most difficult thing that you could do in my mind. Like man, if you go through the Royal Rumble from beginning to end and you win, and not even just to win -- just to go from beginning to the end you know. The whole time. I feel like that’s like, the peak of being able to say, ‘I can really f*cking do this’. So that’s something I’ve always really wanted to do just to kind of prove that to myself as well as [to] everybody else, because even if I did that, I would prove sh*t to a lot of f*cking people because people are d*cks." Ronda expressed. "But, to myself I think, but maybe that’s just revealing my very unrealistic expectations for myself of things I need to do like, ‘You know what? You don’t know how to wrestle, unless you can go from the beginning to the end of the Royal Rumble’. For some reason, I don’t know why it’s something I’ve really wanted to do, but it’ll probably never happen. We’ll see.”
