Now, she wants to prove that it's important to fight through your struggles as she looks to potentially regain her championship at the end of a tournament that will conclude at WWE NXT Battleground.

Speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro in the UK, Perez discussed the recent storyline and how important it is for her to present her struggles with mental health on television.

“It’s so cool. I’ve always wanted to bring mental health into wrestling somehow and never thought it was possible. It’s really cool to be able to change people’s lives. I feel like that’s the most important thing that I’ve always wanted to do. If I can be that voice that helps someone else know that they’re not alone, then that means the world to me.”

She continued, “Just talking about mental health, at least, that was something when I first got to NXT and told them I would love to do something with this. They were like, ‘Alright, we’ll see.'”

Perez will next face Tiffany Stratton on the May 23 episode of WWE NXT to see if she will advance to the tournament finals that will be held on Sunday, May 28.
