There’s no doubt in Rusev’s mind as to who is the greatest women’s wrestler in the world.
Speaking in a video that was posted on his YouTube channel, the former United States Champion talked about how great Asuka is and said it’s been something that he’s believed for a long time. Rusev believes that Asuka is truly the greatest women’s wrestler today, noting several of the things she can do as a wrestler and entertainer.
“Asuka is the greatest women’s wrestler. I don’t know how you don’t know that. I’ve been saying that for years. Asuka is the greatest professional wrestler and nobody cares what I say. But again, that’s just my opinion. How can you say that Asuka is good? You can’t say that Asuka is good. Asuka is so much more than good. She knows everything. She gets everything. She can be funny. She can be serious. She can kick ass while funny. She can do it all and she doesn’t friggin speak English. But who cares? Asuka, by far, my favorite. I love a lot of other people, don’t get me wrong, but I love Asuka the best. I don’t know if Asuka is underrated per se. I don’t know. She’s done everything. She’s held all the titles, so I don’t think Asuka is underrated,” Rusev said.
But Rusev went one step further in his praise and added that he believes she is the best women’s wrestler ever. Rusev comments on her versatility as a performer, adding that anyone who wants to learn more about pro wrestling and the nuances of being an all-around performer, then they should study Asuka.
“I think people have different opinions, but I’m just saying my opinion that she is definitely the best, maybe of all time. Now that I’m thinking, Asuka may be the best of all time. A lot to take in, but Asuka might be the best of all time. I’ve said that for so many years, I’ve said that to my wife. If anybody wants to know more about wrestling, if you are male or female or whoever you are, if you want to learn about professional wrestling, if you want to learn not just professional moves, but actually entertainment and everything in between, you go to Asuka. She’s so good,” Rusev said.
Asuka, the current Raw Women's Champion, recently defended her title against Nia Jax at the WWE Backlash pay-per-view on June 14. For full results of Backlash, click here. You can check out Rusev’s comments in the video at the top of the page.
