Guess what today is?
Rusev Day has been running rabid since the initial chants broke out at the 2017 'Clash Of Champions' PPV in Boston. In the months following that moment, Rusev and his lead-in/partner Aiden English have captured the attention of the WWE Universe and fans outside of the sports-entertainment company. This past July at WWE's 'Extreme Rules' PPV, Rusev received his first one-on-one shot at the WWE Championship and although he fell short in the bout, it is a match that Rusev holds dear because it was his first singles shot at a WWE World Title.
Prior to his mixed tag team match at SummerSlam last month, Rusev spoke with Gorilla Position and as the two parties were conversing, the topic switched over to fans believing that Rusev should be in a more spotlighted position in WWE and Rusev responded to that with the following:
“I have no control over any of that." Rusev said. "I’m there to perform to the best of my abilities and whether I’m first on the card, or last or champion or not, I’m just gonna be me and keep doing what I do best and… eventually one day cream rises to the top so, I’m waiting.”
Rusev will have another opportunity to put the spotlight on himself when he teams up with Aiden English this upcoming Tuesday on SmackDown Live as they will compete in a Triple-Threat tag team. The other two teams in the match are The Usos and SAnitY. The winner of the match will go on to face Sheamus and Cesaro and the winner of that match moves on to 'Hell In A Cell' to challenge New Day for the SmackDown Live Tag Team Championships.
