Sabu will return to the ring at Joey Janela's Spring Break 9.
At The People vs. GCW, Joey Janela defeated former ECW World Champion Masato Tanaka. After the match, he turned his attention toward Joey Janela's Spring Break 9 on April 18th. The lights went out, and a video package highlighting Sabu played. Sabu was in the ring when the lights came back on.
Janela took his appearance as a challenge, and he said that he would face Sabu at Spring Break, but he stated that it would be Sabu's retirement match.

Sabu has not wrestled since 2021 due to health issues. He was previously one of ECW's top stars, and he held the ECW World Heavyweight Championship twice. Sabu is also a former ECW World Tag Team Champion and World Television Champion. He previously appeared at AEW Double or Nothing 2023.
In 2024, Sabu said that GCW wanted him to have his last match with them. He stated that he wanted to get in shape for the match.
