Sami has not gotten the urge to return to wrestling just yet.
The WWE fan-base and fans of former NXT Champion Sami Zayn have been without their up-tempo superstar since mid-June. Sami underwent two shoulder surgeries in the span of seven weeks and after the first surgery he stated during an interview with WWE.com that he was hoping to return to WWE by WrestleMania 35 in April. A vignette recently aired on RAW which promoted the return of Sami and former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens who underwent double knee surgery in October.
Zayn and Owens are returning to WWE soon but in the mean time Sami has been enjoying his time off and as he put it, having time to think. Zayn was the latest guest on the 'Talk Is Jericho' podcast with the current IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho and Zayn shared that he has not had that feeling of wanting to return to the squared circle even after it nearly being a full six months since he's been away.
“I know wrestling fans maybe don’t want to hear this, but I’ve been loving being off, you know? I think maybe wrestling fans wanted to hear, ‘I can’t wait to get back and I miss everything’. I don’t miss anything. Not trying to like… I don’t miss it yet." He said. "Dude I’m like a little… not concerned by how little I’ve missed it. Five months and I don’t miss it? What’s up with that?” Sami continued, “I guess… maybe I’m overstating my lack of desire to return. I do miss performing, but like you [Jericho] said, I’ve been doing this for a super long time. We’re on the road a lot… you know how it is so I don’t know. I just know that when I’ll be back I’ll really enjoy it but I’m not sitting there itching and clawing and I don’t know if my employer will wanna hear that as if, ‘Does this guy not care?’”
