Pro Wrestling Australia body slams into Mardi Gras celebrations with Tag Race!

[Sydney, January 14, 2025]- Pro Wrestling Australia (PWA) Black Label is proud to announce that it is kicking off the year with Tag Race, a night of non-stop action in the spirit of the upcoming Sydney Mardi Gras. This festive night of high-octane entertainment will feature some of Australia’s biggest wrestling names and crowd favourites in seven bouts, including the PWA Tag Team Title Match and Special Trios Match.

After sold out events throughout 2024, PWA’s highly anticipated first event of the year will be held on Friday, January 31 at The Factory Theatre, and is sure to be a night to remember.
Hosted by wrestling’s favourite drag queen Sidney Rail, Tag Race will not only showcase PWA’s
incredibly talented roster but will also show their support of the LGBTQ+ community. PWA prides itself on being a safe and inclusive place for everyone, with several members of its team openly identifying as LGBTQ+, including Nikki Van Blair, Charli Evans and Shay Cassidy.

“Tag Race is more than just a wrestling event; it’s a celebration of community, inclusivity and the unique artistry of Australian wrestling,” says Sidney Rail ahead of their hosting honours. “Pro Wrestling Australia has always been a space where stories and identities are embraced, and the LGBTQ+ community is not just represented, but celebrated. It’s a powerful reminder that wrestling is for everyone.”

Nikki Van Blair, who has the impressive accolade of being the first trans woman to wrestle for New
Japan Wrestling Tamashii, will be battling Jack J. Bonza on the night. She has always found PWA to be a place of acceptance not only for herself, but other queer trainees and talent who have come through the ranks.

“PWA works hard to foster a safe environment with equal opportunities for all, where people are not
treated any differently to anyone else based on their gender identity or sexual orientation,” says Nikki.

“For me personally, I do not feel oppressed or held down because of who I am, so it is my right to stand on equal ground with Jack J. Bonza and show him that in the game of life, the Queen Bee trumps the Rogue Commander!”

The main event on the night will see North Shore Wrestling AKA Will Kiedis, Sam Osborne and Charli Evans once again come face-to-face with crowd favourites Scott Green and The Tuckman, otherwise known as The Dropouts, and they will this time be joining forces with Jimmy Townsend.

The PWA Tag Team Title will also be up for grabs, when current Champions Aaron Jake and Belinda
Pierce battle Everett Connors and Shay Cassidy of The Backslide Girlz.

PWA Premiership 2025 will kick off with Robbie Thorpe, Tony Sin and Hari SIngh facing the force that is MK+ Ultra, Third Eye vs Big Fudge, Billy Preston and Skater Boi Pidgey, and The Regime vs The VeloCities. Ben Braxton will also have his work cut out for him when he faces Lena Kross.
Doors open at 7:30pm with the event starting at 8:00pm on Friday, January 31 at The Factory Theatre, 105 Victoria Rd, Marrickville. Tickets are available online for Gold Seating from $61.68, and General Admission from $39.66.
