Sami Zayn Returns To WWE RAW, Fails To Capture Intercontinental Championship

Sami Zayn has made his return to RAW but was unsuccessful in his first match.

After being out of in-ring competition since June of 2018 because of double rotator cuff surgery, former NXT Champion Sami Zayn made his return to WWE RAW and on his first night back, he issued an open challenge to get his feet wet and out came the newly crowned WWE Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor. Balor was able to best Zayn on Zayn's first night back and following the match, Sami was given a round of applause from the Barclays Center faithful that were excited to see him back.

Sami Zayn got on the microphone and said that he feels like the crowd missed him but he reassured the crowd that he did not miss them in the slightest. Zayn ridiculed the fans and said they do not come to the shows to enjoy them but to be critics and he closed his scolding of the crowd with a, "See you in hell" before he went to the back.

John Pollock of POST Wrestling reported over the weekend that Sami Zayn's return was imminent. During an interview with WWE.com following his double rotator cuff surgery, Sami stated that he hoped to be back by WrestleMania 35 and he hit his target date.
