Sami Zayn's reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion ended at WWE SummerSlam when he lost to Bron Breakker. Zayn's run started at WrestleMania XL when he defeated Gunther, ending his historic reign at 666 days.

On social media, Zayn posted that this latest run may have been the most special of his career, for personal reasons. Attached was a photo of Sami with his son.

Sami's reign lasted 119 days and included six successful title defenses.
