On the May 29th episode of AEW Dynamite, HOOK looked to confront Chris Jericho, Bryan Keith, and Big Bill as they were teaching lessons of the Learning Tree.
Before he could get in the ring, Samoa Joe appeared and whispered something to HOOK.
From there, their partnership began, and they brought in Katsuyori Shibata to even the odds against Jericho, Keith, & Bill.
Speaking at Terrificon, Joe gave insight into how the trio came together.
“It was kind of just talking with HOOK and knowing Shibata and seeing those two talents, I wanted to do something different with them. I wanted for the world to see a little bit more of both of their personalities and so I sat there and you know, sat with Tony and we kind of figured out that this would be kind of a good grouping of us three. I think within the past few weeks, we’ve been seeing a lot more often their personality and a lot more of what they’re capable of. That was really how it all came together," he said.
Joe has been off television since the July 10th episode of AEW Dynamite when Jericho put him on a forklift and ran him through a wall.
HOOK defeated Jericho at AEW All In to regain the FTW Championship.
Elsewhere during the panel, Joe commented on winning the NXT Championship at a live event in 2016. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
