Samoa Joe talks his recent AEW Collision match against CM Punk.
The bout, which went down on the July 8 episode of AEW Collision, was considered by many to be a successful attempt of renewing the rivalry between the 'Best In The World' and the 'King Of Television'.
In a new interview with the Under The Ring podcast, Joe was asked if he ever expected to Punk again, decades after their rivalry first began.
"It’s really to be expected. I’ve found that throughout my career, the same cast of characters pop up. Punk is definitely in that realm of those cast of characters. To see us back in the ring against each other one more time, it’s no big surprise."
Joe was then asked about the differences between his most recent match and his first bout with Punk.
"Just experience, a treasure trove of experience. When we first locked up, we were very new in the industry and still very much a journeyman learning. You never stop learning, but at the same time, we definitely knew a hell of a lot less back then."
Punk was able to advance to the finals of the Owen Hart Cup Tournament after defeating Joe in a second round matchup. On the July 15 episode of AEW Collision, Ricky Starks defeated Punk in the final round to win the tournament. Fans can see Fightful's full report on the show by clicking here.
