Samoa Joe is set to face MJF at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam.
Joe was able to secure the championship match after defeating Roderick Strong in AEW Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament Finals on the September 13, 2023 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Joe won the match after making Strong submit with a Coquina Clutch.

After the bout, Roderick Strong was being tended to in the ring by medical officials and The Kingdom when Adam Cole came to the ring. Strong was stretchered out of the arena as Cole and The Kingdom kept exchanging heated words as they made their way up the ramp.
To end the show, Joe choked out Cole on the stage with a Coquina Clutch.
