Santos Escobar teamed with Dominik Mysterio to take on Rey Mysterio and Andrade at WrestleMania XL. The bout was the culmination of Escobar turning on Rey after the two had been aligned in the LWO.
Speaking on My Cultura and Sonoro and iHeartPodcasts, Escobar reflected on an in-ring moment he shared with Rey.
"In the heat of the battle, there was a moment I will never forget. Rey and I were each standing on the top rope, at the end of the world, face-to-face, looking into each other's eyes, I grabbed him by the ears and whispered, 'I love you. Thank you so much.' Bam. I snuck in a good shot [laughs]. Soon after, Rey ended up winning the match with the 619. Win or lose, it doesn't matter. In that little moment, that's the essence of lucha libre. Lucha libre is two wrestlers fighting to prove who is more skilled, who is stronger, who is more talented. It's an incredible competition, combined with tremendous respect," he said.
Mysterio & Andrade were victorious in the match, which saw Philadelphia Eagles players Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson get involved.
