At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Kojima faced CM Punk in an Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament quarterfinal match. Punk emerged victorious, but the veteran still a remarkable night.
In a tweet a week after the show, Kojima, a known lover of bread, admitted that he ate too much at catering at the pay-per-view. He noted that he took the bread home, and he was a guilty man.
At the AEW show, catering was provided.

In another tweet, Kojima wrote that, following his return to Japan, competing at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door felt like a dream, and he stated that he would never forget the big crowd at the show.
