Scorpio Sky talks about his partnership with Ethan Page in AEW and how much meat was left on the bone before Page departed AEW for WWE NXT.
Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page, known collectively as the Men of the Year, were briefly a huge act in AEW. During their time together, they worked with Sting, Darby Allin, Chris Jericho, and more. During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on the Insight podcast, Sky reflected on his time working with Ethan, calling it one of his favorite runs of his entire career.
However, Sky knows they left a lot of food on the table, considering how much they still have to accomplish as a team.
"The chemistry was unbelievable for two people that did not know each other. I think we just had similar mindsets. He's a very easy guy to work with. He's very fun to work with. Putting everything together just clicked so well. I loved working with him, honestly," said Sky.
One avenue the team never got a chance to take was a run as babyfaces. Scorpio Sky says they talked about a babyface run often, and it almost happened in Ring of Honor when Sky helped Page defeat Tony Nese in an I Quit Match at ROH Final Battle 2023.
"We never did a babyface run. We talked about it all the time. We talked about it for like a year, the entire time I was out waiting to come back, we talked about like, 'Oh, we should do this when we come back, do that, and yada yada.' We finally started do it right at the tail end of his run. We were going to do a little baby ace run. He did the Ring of Honor thing and I came out and saved him. We talked about a lot of ideas there. It just didn't happen, unfortunately.
"We left a lot of food on the table, though, which is unfortunate. I hope I get to work with him again one day, though, because he's incredible. One of my favorite runs of my entire career was working with him. Again, we just left so much meat on the bone that we gotta come back to it at some point down the line."
Ethan Page is currently the WWE NXT Champion. Scorpio is happy to see his former partner reaching new success levels and praised Page once again for being easy to work with.
"I'm so happy for him. So happy for him. I can't even put it into words. He's so talented. He can talk. He's got the look. He can work. He's easy to work with. I don't want to say he doesn't have an ego, right? Because his name is 'All Ego.' I can't blow his nickname. But, you know, we all have a form of an ego. But he's polite," said Sky. "I'll just go back to saying he's easy to work with. Similar to me, he's just a 'go with the flow' type of guy.
"I think that's why he's so successful because his work ethic is there," Sky added. "He works, he eats it, he breathes it, and he loves it. He puts his heart into everything he does and when you do that, eventually, something's going to click for you. I'm incredibly happy to see that happening for him."
