Scott D'Amore attended NJPW Battle in the Valley on Saturday, February 18, even doing a bit of commentary on the show.
IMPACT and NJPW worked together on the show with IMPACT World Champion Josh Alexander competing on the event. The night was headlined by a double main event of Mercedes Mone challenging KAIRI for the IWGP Women's Championship and Kazuchika Okada defending the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against Hiroshi Tanahashi.
Appearing on Busted Open Radio, D'Amore was asked about meeting Mone.
"Got to meet Mercedes, our paths had never crossed. Obviously, I'm a huge fan of her and everything she's done. It was a great opportunity to meet her and chat with her after an unbelievable match with her and KAIRI. I don't think KAIRI has ever gotten the love and respect she deserves. She's outstanding. That elbow of hers is among the best in the business and maybe the coolest to watch. Her and Mercedes went out there in front of a packed crowd and put on a world title match that I thought was outstanding. The wrestling was amazing, the emotion was fantastic. Talking to her afterward, Mercedes is obviously a very focused and passionate professional. Her wrestling is top notch, her attitude seemed great," he said.
Mercedes previously said that she would love a match against IMPACT Knockouts Champion Mickie James.
On Busted Open, James said it needed to happen and hinted to D'Amore to get it done.
D'Amore said, "We have to get you two in a ring somewhere and get this done."
Mercedes won the IWGP Women's Championship at NJPW Battle in the Valley, defeating KAIRI in the co-main event.
James is set to defend her IMPACT Knockouts Championship against Masha Slamovich at IMPACT No Surrender. You can view the current lineup for the show by clicking here.
