Mooney was a part of the WWF broadcast team in the 1980s and 1990s, doing play-by-play commentary for matches for a number of WWF programs. Mooney also served as an interviewer and host for various Coiseum Video releases.
Since then, Mooney has largely remained absent from pro wrestling, but would make the occasional appearance, including an appearance on the Top 25 Raw moments celebration which was shown on the WWE Network on January 2018. Mooney also has a podcast titled "Prime Time with Sean Mooney" where wrestlers and wrestling personalities are regularly featured on.
