X-Pac is prepared to go under the knife to repair a torn ACL in hopes of being able to have one last run in the wrestling ring.
Sean Waltman is one of only two men in history who can say that he was a member of the original D-Generation X and a member of the original New World Order lineup, the other is a fellow Minnesotan, “Ravishing” Rick Rude.
Throughout his years in the ring, Sean Waltman was always highly regarded as being ahead of his time due to his ability to perform high-risk moves well before it was the norm. However, sometimes that high-risk style can catch up with you and Waltman revealed on his podcast recently that he was hoping to have surgery to repair his torn ACL so that he can end his career on his terms.
"I've had a torn ACL since the turn of this decade, like 2008 or something. I'm going to get that fixed and sometime next year, I'll put myself on the market, have a few more matches. Everyone thinks they have one more run left in them. Anywhere I run, it'd have to be a sprint."
When asked if he could do a year at a regular schedule, Waltman replied, "No. I could [do a regular schedule], I don't know if I want to. I've probably got half a dozen good, hard matches in me. When I tore my ACL, I've had some really good matches, even with that. I just want to get it fixed, it's not that I can't have matches with it. If I'm going to do a last run, I want that to be [fixed]."
Now in a tweet responding to a fan wanting Waltman to be a surprise entrant in this year's Royal Rumble, Sean revealed that he will be undergoing surgery on January 27 but maybe he could be a surprise entrant next year.
Thank you Billy. I'm having knee surgery on the 27th. Maybe next year.--

Waltman last appeared in the Royal Rumble in the year 2000. His last wrestling match was in April of 2019 when he teamed with Hurricane Helms and Justin 'Thunder' Liger at WrestleCon SuperShow over WrestleMania weekend.
Sean Waltman went into the WWE Hall of Fame with D-Generation X in the year 2019 and was supposed to be inducted again the very next year as a member of the New World Order. The global pandemic canceled that Hall of Fame but that entire class will still be inducted in the future.
