Rollins believes his match against Triple H elevated him to that next level again.
The current WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins will be on the lookout during tonight's WWE RAW in Austin, Texas as Paul Heyman announced over the weekend that Brock Lesnar has cashed in his Money In The Bank contract and will take on Seth Rollins at some point during RAW. Thus far throughout his title reign, Rollins has defended his gold against AJ Styles and took on the current WWE Champion Kofi Kingston in a title versus title match.
Throughout his years in WWE, Rollins has had a handful of marquee matches on big stages including WrestleMania against the likes of Brock Lesnar, Triple H, Finn Balor and The Miz. When Rollins joined the Fight Club Podcast, he selected a match from his WrestleMania past that he feels ranks the highest in regards to importance and decided on his WrestleMania 33 bout against NXT founder and senior producer Triple H that Rollins picked up the victory in.
“Well we’re coming pretty fresh off the slaying of the beast. I will say, coming back off of a devastating knee injury, to get into the ring with Triple H, one of the greatest of all-time at WrestleMania and beat him at his own game, pretty special, and if you look at where things went for me later that year especially leading into the following year, that was a bit of a catapult to get me back where I was before the knee injury so, like I said, we’re pretty fresh off the Brock Lesnar match and who knows where that’s gonna place me career wise. Obviously I’m kinda standing alone at the top of the podium at the moment but like you said, you have to look back at it in retrospect and really figure out which one was more important but certainly, I think I could not have been the Beast Slayer had I not been the Kingslayer first so, more important than anything, I would say that victory over Triple H was really what catapulted me into the next phase of my career.” Rollins explained.
Triple's H NXT brand presented their 25th TakeOver show over the weekend and to take a listen to Triple H's thoughts about the show and how it unfolded, head over to the Fightful Pro Wrestling YouTube channel for the post TakeOver media call audio.
