Shayna Baszler: Nia Jax Helped Me A Lot Behind The Scenes

Shayna Baszler credits Nia Jax as an early ally to her during her time on the main roster.

Shayna Baszler was called up to the main roster of WWE in early 2020, just before the global pandemic. Baszler eventually earned gold by teaming with Nia Jax to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship. Now, she's reflecting on that pairing and crediting Nia Jax as someone who helped her during her transition from NXT to the main roster.

"I had a lot of fun teaming up with Nia," said Baszler to DS of Ring the Belle in a recent interview. "She really helped me out when I didn't know anyone. I had just come up here. We decided to team up, and she actually really helped me out a lot behind the scenes, too, like 'knowing the ropes,' as they say. I enjoyed it because I did get to show a different side of me that I didn't get to really show in NXT. "

Baszler would injure Jax on-screen with a stomp to her arm, and that would subsequently become Nia Jax's WWE exit on a permanent basis. Jax did return at the 2023 Royal Rumble event. Fans can read what she has to say about that return at this link.

Baszler will get an opportunity to win back the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship alongside Ronda Rousey on Monday, May 29. Learn more about that at this link.
