WWE held the most unique Money in the Bank event ever this year with the match taking place at WWE Headquarters. The men and women in the match battled up Titan Towers, heading to the roof to retrieve the briefcase.
One spot in the match saw Shayna Baszler lock Rey Mysterio in the Kirifuda Clutch, which caught the eye of fans as men and women rarely physically interact on WWE television.
Speaking on After The Bell, Shayna revealed Rey's reaction to the spot.
"After the Money in the Bank, I had that moment where I put the Kirifuda [Clutch] on Rey Mysterio. In that moment, when it was happening, 13-year-old me is like 'this is crazy.' The next TV taping, Rey comes up to me and is like, 'Hey Shayna, I just wanted to say thank you for that.' I'm like, 'You're thanking me? You're Rey Mysterio...please don't do that.' Everyone is in the same spot. If you feel like 'I'm so far behind these people and don't know how to do this,' everyone worth a darn feels that way," she said.
Corey Graves noted that Rey remains one of the most humble people in the locker room, which is why he's been able to remain in his spot for so long.
Being choked out by Baszler wasn't the worst thing to happen to Rey at Money in the Bank. He was also tossed off the roof of Titan Towers, but fortunately landed on a second roof.
