Shayna Baszler: Ronda Rousey's Mom Would Love To Take Credit For The Trajectory Of My Career

Shayna Baszler opens up about her relationship with Ronda Rousey and the role that Ronda's mother would like to think she played in Shayna transitioning into the world of pro wrestling.

Shayna Baszler, right now, is the dominant member of the MMA Four Horsewomen in WWE. Ronda Rousey has not been seen since WrestleMania 35 and Shayna Baszler is well on her way to potentially avenging Ronda's loss to Becky Lynch and her upcoming match at WrestleMania 36.

In a new interview with SuperSport, Shayna Bazler credits Ronda Rousey with opening a path for the Four Horsewomen to be whatever they wanted to be. On top of that, Shayna also recalls a moment of enlightenment provided by Ronda Rousey's mother.

“If it was up to Ronda’s mother, she would take full credit for the way my life and career [have] gone,” Baszler said in jest. “There was a time where I was living with Ronda in a house in Venice and I happened to have wrestling on the TV, and I was watching wrestling… and Ronda’s mum came to the living room and she goes ‘you are not watching this, you are studying this’… and she said ‘keep that in mind’ and then walked away.”

She continued, “Ronda set the four of us up in a way that we could concentrate on being exactly what we are… You don’t make a lot of money in MMA, especially at first… She set us up so that we could just concentrate on showing up at the gym… We were free to concentrate on being whatever it is we wanted to be and that is what really set the tone for where I am at today.”
