Fightful has learned that Sonya Deville (real name Daria Berenato) was arrested in New Jersey for having a firearm in her vehicle. Deville has a permit in Florida, but the permit is not valid in New Jersey. According to TMZ, the incident reportedly occurred on February 19. Deville started carrying the firearm after her home was invaded in August 2020.

Court records show she's since been charged with one count of unlawful weapon possession -- handgun without permit.

Deville is in the process of getting the case thrown out. She is due in court for a hearing in March. The firearm was found in the vehicle while the car was being valeted as Deville was out celebrating with her fiance.

WWE sources indicated there was no heat on Sonya Deville, with the understanding of why she would want to protect herself following the stalker and home invasion situation.

We're told that following the invasion, Sonya actually got help from a judge in expediting her permit in Florida to protect herself.

Deville was a home invasion victim in August 2020 when a man was arrested and charged with aggravated stalking, armed burglary of a dwelling, attempted armed kidnapping, and criminal mischief for breaking into her home.

Deville is currently part of the WWE SmackDown roster, last wrestling on the February 10 episode of the program.

Fightful will provide more updates as they are known.
