Sonya Deville's Attempted Kidnapper Sentenced To 15 Years In Prison

The man who attempted to kidnap WWE star Sonya Deville is set to go to jail.

Previously, Philip A. Thomas II attempted to kidnap Deville (real name Daria Berenato) in August 2020, as he entered her home, and he had a knife, zip ties, duct tape, and other items. He was found incompetent to stand trial, and he was awaiting transfer to Florida State Hospital. Thomas was charged with Aggravated Stalking, Armed Burglary of a Dwelling, Attempted Armed Kidnapping, and Criminal Mischief.

In an update, Fox 13 Tampa Bay reported that Thomas was sentenced to 15 years in jail, as he pled guilty to kidnapping, armed burglary, and aggravated stalking. As part of a plea agreement that Judge Barbara Twine-Thomas accepted, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison, followed by 15 years of probation. Thomas had been facing life in prison on charges of Aggravated Stalking, Armed Burglary of a Dwelling, Attempted Armed Kidnapping, and Criminal Mischief.

Deville previously detailed the attempted kidnapping and revealed that Mandy Rose was with her during the incident in a court document. More information is available here.

After taking some time away from WWE following the attempted kidnapping, Deville returned in January 2021. She initially took on a new role as an authority figure before she shifted back to in-ring competition. Deville has been featured in a tag team with Chelsea Green on WWE TV in recent weeks.
