There's a new champion atop of the NXT UK brand.
During a recent set of NXT UK TV Tapings, Ilja Dragunov was forced to vacate the NXT UK Championship due to injury. Following that, an eight man tournament was announced to crown a brand new champion. The tournament featured the likes of Trent Seven, Oliver Carter, Tyler Bate, and Joe Coffey.
At the tapings that followed the previous ones, a new champion was crowned. In the semi-finals, Trent Seven defeated Oliver Carter, while Tyler Bate defeated Joe Coffey, meaning the finals matchup was between the two men involved in the hottest rivalry that the brand has to offer.
According to Instagram user ukwrestlingcollector, Tyler Bate defeated Trent Seven in the finals of the impromptu tournament and walked away as the first ever 2x NXT UK Champion:
Bate was originally the inaugural champion of the brand, as he won the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament back in 2017. After holding the belt for four months, Bate dropped the title to Pete Dunne at NXT Takeover: Chicago in May 2017.
