Shayna Baszler has her next championship challenger, and it's a familiar face in Kairi Sane.
Sane won a triple threat match at Thursday's set of NXT tapings to earn a shot at the NXT Women's Championship this August at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4. Sane'e opponents were Candice LeRae and Nikki Cross, but she was also able to beat Vanessa Borne along the way to help solidify her spot at a top contender.
The winner of last year's Mae Young Classic tournament, Sane actually defeated Baszler in the finals for the crown. The two have worked together nearly two dozen times over the last 11 months, including many live event tag team matches. Baszler defeated Sane the last time they competed on NXT TV earlier this year, and also successfully defended her championship against Sane in a live event match in April.
Sane was granted an opportunity to compete for the NXT Women's Championship last year at NXT Takeover: War Games as a reward for emerging victorious from the tournament, but came up short in her attempt. She was also a participant in the first ever WWE women's Royal Rumble match back in January.
Fightful.com will have full, live coverage of NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4, including a post-show podcast.
