Christian Cage kicked off Tuesday's set of tapings and spoke of retiring the TNA Heavyweight Championship. He then handed the title to ring announcer David Penzer, who took the title to the back.

The TNA Heavyweight Title was brought back in April 2020 by Moose as he declared himself the champion. It was reinstated as a championship in February 2021, setting up a unification match between Moose and then IMPACT World Champion Rich Swann.

Swann won the bout, giving him both titles. Kenny Omega would defeat Swann at IMPACT Rebellion before Christian defeated Omega on the debut episode of AEW Rampage.

Christian is set to defend the IMPACT World Championship against Brian Myers at IMPACT Emergence on Friday.
