Sting Told The Young Bucks His Last Match Was 'Up There With The Top Three Matches' In His Career

Sting almost immediately told Matthew and Nicholas Jackson that his final match was one of the favorites of his career.

Sting wrestled his final match at AEW Revolution when he teamed with Darby Allin to successfully retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship over Matthew and Nicholas Jackson.

Speaking about the match on the subsequent media scrum, Sting revealed shortly after winning his last match that he told Matthew and Nicholas said it was one of his favorites that he'd ever taken part in.

"I just left a meeting with the Bucks, and I said, ‘This is up there with the top three matches in my whole career.’ That’s a big statement. I really do mean that. What a way to end it with AEW, and so kudos to the Bucks, and of course, Darby, of course, Tony. The whole thing could not have been any better," Sting said.

Darby Allin played a big part in the match, doing a Swanton Bomb through glass, and cutting up his back just to make sure Sting would have a memorable final match.

“I don’t think any of us out there missed a beat tonight. It was just so much fun. I wish [Darby] wasn’t all beat up and hamburger meat on his back, but man, what a great memory, what a great night. Couldn’t ask for better opponents, couldn’t ask for a better partner, couldn’t ask for, I mean, to have my two sons involved, what a way to end. Tony, I’m grateful. I hope you are just so pleased. I told the Bucks, I said, ‘Man, this is it, but something like this makes me want to stay around, like maybe we can do Wembley.’ No, no chance. That would actually be a backfire at this point," said Sting.

Darby chimed in one more time just to thank Sting yet again.

“I think it’s amazing that he came in during the pandemic, when there were barely any fans, and took a chance, just like everything, considering he never had to get back in the ring again, and then to be rewarded at Wembley and setting the all-time attendance record in wrestling," said Allin. "Then to have pretty much the whole pay-per-view, Revolution, be based around this and the proper send-off with his sons and everything that went into it, this was all his baby, and it’s amazing that we, at the end of the night, can be like, ‘We did it,’ and not have any regrets, waking up like, ‘Ah, man, we shit the bed last night.’ [Laughs] There’s no regrets, this was amazing. Thank you, Sting."
