Sting comments on ending his career with his undefeated record in AEW intact.
Sting wrestled his last match at AEW Revolution, as he and Darby Allin defended the AEW World Tag Team Championship against the Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson). Sting scored the victory for his team, so he ended his AEW run undefeated.
During the AEW Revolution post-show press conference, Sting was asked whether there was any resistance to going out undefeated.
“Yeah, there was a little resistance to going out undefeated. There was resistance to going out as champions. There was resistance to even getting a chance to be World Tag Champs [laughs], but it’s okay. It all worked out. I’m happy with it all," Sting said.
Tony Khan then highlighted how Stingn was unselfish, and he would not fight for the spotlight or remain undefeated, but he deserved it all. He praised Sting and thanked him for one of the greatest nights of his life.
“I said it before you came in, you’re so unselfish. You’re the greatest leader, you lead by example, you’re a kind leader. You’re one of the sweetest, most genuine, unselfish people I’ve ever met in my life, and of course you wouldn’t fight to be undefeated. Of course, you wouldn’t fight to take the spotlight, but you deserve it. You deserve the spotlight, you deserve everything. ‘The Final Showtime’ was something that I think was the culmination of what I believe is the greatest career in the history of pro wrestling. It spanned four decades, more opponents, more companies, and I thought tonight was, for me, one of the greatest nights of my life. Thank you," Khan said.
