Hulk Hogan claims that one of the spots in the original main event of WrestleMania was meant for David Schultz.
"Dr. D" David Schultz was one of the names who came to WWE from the AWA, much like Hulk Hogan. Schultz's most famous moment today came from slapping John Stossel on 20/20 after Stossel said that he believed wrestling was fake.
During a recent interview with Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, "The Hulkster" claimed Schultz was scheduled to be the one who teamed with Roddy Piper in the original WrestleMania main event against Hulk Hogan and Mr. T. Still, it all changed when Schultz supposedly went into business for himself and tried to slap Mr. T for his own angle.
Hogan also claims that the whole thing was David Schultz's idea.
“The main event of WrestleMania at Madison Square Garden, that was David Schultz’s idea,” said Hogan. “It was his original idea for WrestleMania... It all started with David’s idea. It didn’t turn out that way, but that’s how it started.
“David shot his own angle when he slapped Mr. T,” said Hogan. “Vince was so damn mad. He wouldn’t forgive him, and that was the end of him.”
If Hulk Hogan said it, it must be true.
