The Street Profits Discuss What Made Them Decide To Become A Team, And How They Came Up With Their Team Name

And all the people knowww...

NXT's resident "Sultans Of Swag" Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins joined forces to form the duo known as The Street Profits. Last summer vignettes of the two began to air on NXT TV which showed both Ford and Dawkins enjoying themselves with fans and prepping for their matches in a unique fashion. The duo last had a match on NXT TV when they fell short to The Mighty but since then they have been working the NXT Florida house show loop.

The tandem spoke with Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald recently and provided some insight into why they decided to join forces.

“Me and [Angelo] have similarities. He looked across the room one day, I looked across the room. He’s seen my work ethic, I’ve seen his work ethic. He likes to get down, I like to get down. That’s how we formed. It’s as simple as that. It’s two guys who have the same everything.” Ford stated.

The power behind the team Angelo Dawkins then went on to speak about how the name 'Street Profits' came about and it basically came down to selecting a name that would sound good to them and to others.

“That was definitely us. We were like, ‘Yo, what would be hot right now? What should we name ourselves?’ We went down the list, and as soon as we both said Street Profits, we were like, ’Oh man. That gotta nice little ring to it.’ Dawkins said.

The recently married Montez Ford chimed in on the creation of the team name as well.

”We’re profits. We’re advancing in life. We’re advancing the tag team division. We’re advancing the goal. We’re advancing the skill. We’re advancing the style. We’re advancing everything. The profit is an advance, and that’s what we do.” Ford added.

The Street Profits explained why they decided to join forces and in a recent interview the current IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega explained that he found it odd that more teams do not go into the story of why they decided to become a team. To read that interview, click here.
