Sukeban goes big time.
On Wednesday, December 6, Vogue posted an article to their website profiling the new United States based joshi promotion, Sukeban. The article, which can be found by clicking here, took a deep dive into the promotion, their stars, and how it was formed.
One paragraph in the article highlights a big number for Sukeban, revealing that over a thousand people reserved tickets for the promotion's event on Wednesday, December 6:
At this stage in the evolution of the hugely hyped (and deeply corporate) phenomenon that is Art Basel Miami, attendees should know to expect the unexpected. While AR art exhibitions on megayachts and endless cascades of celebrity appearances have become par for the course at the fair, one of the buzziest events on the 2023 lineup—a women's Japanese wrestling match—feels surprisingly…surprising. More than 1,000 people reserved tickets to see the Sukeban collective's 90-minute wrestling show this evening at Lot 11, the trendy skatepark in downtown Miami.
Sukeban's event on December 6 is set to stream on Twitch and TikTok beginning at 10 p.m. EST. Fans can learn more by clicking here. Fightful will have results from the event following its conclusion.
